Keep Your Steam Cleaning Performance at Its Best

The Fortador PowerTwister™ nozzle is one of the most advanced rotating steam nozzles in the industry — engineered for high-pressure cleaning, superior dirt removal, and long-term reliability. To maintain optimal performance, operators must follow a consistent service routine that protects the internal bearings, prevents clogging, and ensures powerful, uninterrupted rotation.

This guide explains when maintenance is required, how to service the nozzle, and how to store it safely to maximize its lifespan.

When Service Is Needed

Regular maintenance is essential for protecting the rotating mechanism and ensuring consistent steam flow. You should service the PowerTwister:

✔ After Every Work Session

Daily cleaning and lubrication keep the rotation smooth and prevent buildup that can restrict performance.

✔ When You Notice Reduced Performance

If the steam output weakens, rotation becomes irregular, or the spray pattern changes, it’s time for immediate inspection.

✔ After Exposure to Dust, Sand, or Contaminants

Working in sandy, construction, or heavy-dirt environments can cause bearing wear and clogging.

✔ Before Long-Term Storage (More Than One Week)

Cleaning and lubricating the nozzle prevents corrosion and ensures it’s ready for the next job.

Routine maintenance not only prevents breakdowns — it extends the life of the nozzle and maintains maximum cleaning efficiency.

PowerTwister Service Workflow

Below is the recommended step-by-step service procedure, as advised by Fortador engineers.

Step 1: Preparation

  1. Inspect all hose fittings, adapters, and quick connectors.
  2. Seal the reduction thread with Teflon tape to prevent leaks.
  3. Confirm the steam unit is functioning properly before connecting the nozzle.

Important:
Perform all setup in a well-ventilated area and point the nozzle away from people, animals, or electrical devices.

Step 2: Safety Before Operation

To ensure safe working conditions:

  • Wear protective gloves and safety goggles.
  • Do not operate near electrical outlets or open flames.
  • Stop immediately if you notice unusual vibration, noise, or steam leakage.
  • Avoid touching the metal tip — it remains extremely hot after operation.

Special Condition:
Only work when lighting and ventilation are adequate for safe operation.

Step 3: Cleaning After Use

  1. Disconnect the nozzle from the steam generator.
  2. Allow it to cool down completely.
  3. Rinse the nozzle under running water to remove dirt, sand, or residue.
  4. Do not use aggressive chemicals or sharp tools.
  5. Let it dry fully.
  6. Apply a thin, even layer of PTFE lubricant spray to all rotating parts.

Note: Lubrication must be done daily, after each work session.
Special Condition: Avoid over-lubrication — excess PTFE can cause buildup.

Step 4: Daily Maintenance

After each work session:

  • Wipe the exterior with a clean, dry cloth.
  • Inspect seals, threads, and bearings for wear or corrosion.
  • Reapply PTFE lubricant to the rotating bearings if needed.

Regular maintenance significantly prolongs the lifespan of the nozzle and ensures consistent rotational power.

Step 5: Storage

For proper storage:

  • Keep the nozzle in a dry, clean, shaded environment.
  • Ensure the nozzle is completely dry before storage.
  • Protect it from moisture, dust, and physical damage.

Special Condition — For Storage Over One Week:

  • Perform complete cleaning.
  • Lubricate all internal moving parts with PTFE spray.
  • Store horizontally in a sealed container or protective bag.
